How I became involved Ch.3

CHAPTER 3

Helenn what's up?" Said Bukky. Replying Helen answered "I'm okay".

"You don't seem okay to me. You came in very late last night and it's almost 12pm and you're not willing to get your ass up, it's very unlike you to me".

"Bukky the story is too long" replied Helen

" Cut it short and tell me, I have all day after all it's Saturday" said Bukky

"At least let me have my bath first" Helen said to Bukky.

"Hmmm Okay" agreed Bukky.

Helen changed into a towel and got in the shower. Helen likes to take her time when having her bath, she believes the longer the better.
She got out in about thirty five minutes and got dressed in ten.

She joined Bukky on the bed and Bukky began with her questions "so gist me" she said.

"Well you remember I travelled to Asaba yesterday to see Frederick". Said Helen while Bukky nodded in agreement.
"When he opened the door to see me  he  seemed disappointed a bit, I didn't take it to be anything serious, I just felt maybe he was troubled or something. He let me in without saying a word for like three minutes but the first thing he said when he finally opened his mouth was "why didn't you tell me you were coming?" I felt bad but I apologized and said I just wanted to surprise him, he still didn't seem comfortable. Then his mum walked into the sitting room with her car keys in hand and she asked who I was, he told her I was a friend of his. Bukky I was so shocked when he said this but I tried not to panic instead I forced a smile on my face. His mum then asked him if the gift she bought for her grand daughter was nice while she brought out a blue dress like the one that a three months old baby would wear. I looked at Frederick and he turned his face the other way. His mum later went into her room and we were left alone. I asked my supposed boyfriend who's child she bought that little dress for,he went numb and I asked again and he said he doesn't know. Eventually after some minutes he came out clean telling me he didn't mean to hurt me that he loves me but he had an affair while we were dating and the lady he cheated on me with is pregnant with his child and it is confirmed that she's having a girl child. At this point I couldn't even wait for him to tell me the rest of his story,I stormed out of his house and got on the next bus to Abuja" Helen narrated.

"Can you imagine what that son of a..." Bukky was trying to say something before the interruption "who's there now?" She rushed to the door and found out it was Roseline. Roseline came in and joined the gist.

"So as I was saying. I got back to Abuja by about 9:pm and when I finally did, the bus had to stop half way,the driver mentioned something about the engine. Well I didn't want to waste time there waiting so I decided since it wasn't far from school I could walk from there home. Walking on my own I came in contact with a thief but my material things didn't seem enough for him.." she was cut short by Roseline who said " Helen you know how dangerous it is walking home alone at that time of the night" Helen just sighed and continued "the masked man even tried to rape me"

"Jesus!" Bukky and Roseline both screamed

"Hope he didn't succeed?" Bukky asked.

"It was God who sent a good Samaritan to help me" said Helen

"But did he get caught? I mean the guy In the mask" asked Roseline

"My dear, before the police got there he had already escaped" Helen said.

"Really? exclaimed Roseline.

"Who called the Police?" Asked Bukky

"Who else but the good Samaritan?" Helen answered "He even brought me home" she added.

"Oh it's a 'he' " Roseline said smiling.

"Roseline! Instead of you to be thankful she came home safely you're there thinking if it was a he or she" Bukky scolded.

"Ah ah, what's your own ?" Roseline said while Bukky just rolled her eyes at her "but I'm glad you're fine dear" she added.

There was a knock on the door and Roseline rushed to get it.

"A package for one Miss Helen" said the stranger.

"Hope I can take it? I'm her roommate" Roseline asked

"Yes ma'am" he replied affirmatively.
