How i became involved ch.5

Few months had passed already.Helen had written her final exams and was now home. She narrated her story to her mum who asked about Frederick.
"He wasn't meant for you my dear" her mum said.
"I don't know mum, I was really broken after what he did" Helen pointed out.
"Look my dear, he who sees gold and rejects it may end up broke for life" Mrs Adesina loved to speak in parables sometimes.
"Hahahaha, mummy you and your parables sometimes" she said laughing.

Later that day Helen went to hang out with Bukky. They met at a fancy restaurant in Lekki.
"How have you been coping?" Bukky asked
"Hmm..it hasn't been easy my dear but I'm trying my best, you know he was my first love" Helen replied.
"First love or not. He is gone, you should move on, you know what I mean" advised Bukky.
"Please I'm not ready for all these relationship wahala , today y'all are in each others arms professing love to one another, tomorrow he'll go and impregnate another girl and tell you he isn't interested again, then he'll...." Helen was  then interrupted by Bukky
"... it's enough, you're saying it like all guys are the same and you know it's not true"
"Is it not true?" Helen defended herself
"No it's not" disagreed Bukky.
"Really?" Asked Helen
"Yes, really. You all always said I and Jeffery's relationship would end at the gate and see where we are now" Bukky said this with her fingers in the air showing Helen her 24 karat gold engagement ring.
"Wow! When were u going to tell me" Helen said this rolling her eyes at Bukky.
"It's what I came here to tell you but you turned it to something else" Bukky said in her defense
"I'm sorry, you know how I get sometimes" Helen apologized.
"Well you're the chief bridesmaid" Bukky said.
"I'll be honored to share in your joy" Helen said giving Bukky a warm hug and they both said farewell.

When Helen got home she began to think of the good news her friend shared with her. She thought of how they both (Helen and Roseline) laughed at Bukky when they knew of her relationship with Jeffery .They teased her of how Jeffery won't be ready for marriage till ten years after they graduated since they both were classmates. She sighed a little. She also began to ponder on whether this should somehow make her believe in love again but she pushed the thought aside and decided to go to sleep.
